San Carlos Apache Tribe Animal Control Services

The Animal Control department is dedicated to promoting community safety, humane animal care, and responsible pet ownership across the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. Located at Building 20 on West Tonto Street, our team works closely with residents, tribal departments, and animal welfare partners to protect both the public and local animal populations.

Animal Control Community Services and Ordinance Enforcement

San Carlos Apache Animal Control offers a wide variety of essential services to protect our community, including:

  • Enforcing Tribal Ordinances pertaining to domestic animals, livestock, and containment
  • Conducting animal cruelty and neglect investigations
  • Providing emergency aid in animal rescues, sheltering, and adoption assistance
  • Investigating animal bite incidents to ensure public health and rabies prevention
  • Educating local communities on responsible pet care, spaying, and neutering
  • Hosting and partnering with veterinary organizations to provide free or low-cost animal medical care, mobile clinics, and vaccinations
  • Safely removing and rehoming wild animals out of domestic residential areas

Reporting Incidents and Animal Welfare Assistance

Our officers work in close coordination with the San Carlos Apache Police Department and public safety partners recognized under the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) to respond to aggressive animal reports, stray containment, and emergency situations across all tribal districts.

We are committed to maintaining a safe, healthy environment for all tribal families and their pets. Community members are encouraged to license their pets, maintain current rabies vaccinations, and report stray or injured animals promptly to our dispatch office.
