Mission statement
The San Carlos Apache Tribe, Nnee Bich’o Nii Program will provide eligible individuals the opportunity to become economically independent through education, training and employment. Nnee Bich’o Nii will strengthen families through the recognition of Apache customs and traditions. We will remove barriers by providing case management and educational and employment related-support services.
The Nnee Bich’o Nii Program is designed to assist eligible participants in developing strong families, through education, support services, employment skills training and cash assistance to participants residing on the San Carlos Apache Reservation. Those who reside on the reservation within the following residential zip codes: 85550, 85542 and 85530. Nnee Bich’o Nii Program may provide participant families support and prevention services, on a case-by-case basis, as determined by need and availability. Requirements include Job Search, volunteering or attending high school or G.E.D. classes. Once an application is submitted, next steps is the applicant will be scheduled an office interview to complete the cash assistance interview. A decision is made within 45 days of submitting the cash application.
If you have your high school diploma or GED, you may be required to volunteer to gain work experience. However, if you do not have your high school diploma or GED, you may be required to attend GED classes. Unsubsidized Employment: work with earnings, provided by an employer, who does not receive a subsidy for the creation and maintenance of the employment position. Subsidized Employment: work that provides an employer a subsidy from TANF or other public funds to offset some or all of the wages and costs of employing an individual. The participant is paid wages and receives the same benefits as any other employee doing similar work. Unpaid Work Experience (UWE): is when a current active TANF participant is placed at a work site to receive valuable unpaid work experience by volunteering. On-The-Job Training (OJT) Project: paid training positions for selected TANF participant(s). This includes direct supervision, training development courses and hands-on training opportunities. This is also in conjunction with classroom instruction, under the supervision of a journey-level person or trade professional, in which the CDT participant learns practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. Job Readiness Classes: programs that help prepare participants to get, keep and excel at a new job. Basic employability skills include effective communication, problem solving, resume building, and interviewing. Job readiness training programs also help participants develop good work habits that facilitate ongoing success.
