Seven Mile Wash District

Seven Mile Wash District is the smallest District by population size. However, the District contains most of the Tribe’s department offices, schools, health care facilities are located within this district as well as the post office, a convenience store, an airport facility, and the B.I.A. Forestry Service. There are several public employers within the District and the San Carlos Apache Tribe. In addition to the Tribe itself, employers include Health Services, Cattle Association and the San Carlos School District. The District contains several parks and recreation facilities including baseball fields, basketball courts (indoor and outdoor) and various sites containing playground equipment. An approximately 5,500-acre area immediate to San Carlos that includes the Talkalai Lake area, Seneca Lake and immediate surrounding area consisting of approximately 400 acres. The District name derives from the Seven Mile Wash exciting on the north end of the reservation.
Population
The Seven Mile Wash District is home to approximately 3,572 Tribal members. Housing subdivisions include White Rock, Indian Hills, North Indian Hills, Tufa Stone, Airport 79, Twin Mesquite along with scattered residential units.
Enterprise
There are several commercial businesses within the District including the San Carlos Marketplace, a day care facility, the San Carlos Cafe and a gas station.
